Eligibility Criteria

  • You must be a citizen of a country in Asia, Africa or the Middle East listed on the Australia Awards website.
  • You cannot be an Australian citizen or permanent resident or plan to move to Australia permanently.
  • You must meet work requirements set by your home country (like years worked in a specific field).
  • You cannot apply if you had a long-term Australia Award before unless you lived outside Australia for double the time you were there (like 8 years away after a 4-year scholarship).
  • You must tell if you or your family have ties to Australia Awards staff to keep things fair.
  • You must meet all Australian visa rules. If you fail the scholarship may be canceled.
  • Exceptions apply for citizens of Cook Islands, Niue, or Tokelau with New Zealand citizenship but they need a Student Visa.
  • You must meet the entry rules of the Australian school you apply to.
  • The scholarship can be canceled if you don’t get into your chosen school.

Apply Online

  • Use the link in your country’s profile to start your application. Indonesia and the Philippines use different websites.
  • Answer questions to see if you can apply. You will get a username password and number.
  • Save your application and change it until the deadline. Once you send it you cannot edit it.
  • Do not wait until the last day. The website might be slow. Use the Online User Manual if stuck.

Apply by Mail

  • Ask your local Australia Awards office for paper forms if needed.
  • Mail everything before the deadline. Late applications will not work.
