About the Fellowship
The New York Times Fellowship gives new journalists a full year of hands on newsroom work. Fellows report stories, edit articles, design visuals or work on data audio and audience projects. It is more than an internship because it is a step into professional journalism with help from experienced editors.
Most fellows will work at The New York Times headquarters in New York City. Some jobs are in Washington, San Francisco and London.

Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the New York Times Fellowship 2026, you must:
- Be an early career journalist or recent graduate.
- Have less than five years of journalism experience.
- Be able to work in the United States or the United Kingdom.
- Already have a valid visa work or student visa with OPT extension.
- Promise to work full time for one year June 2026 to May 2027.
Note The New York Times does not help get new work visas. You must already have permission to work in the USA or UK.
