Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) Fellowship 2027 (Fully Funded)

Applications for the Matsumae International Foundation (MIF) Fellowship 2027 are now available in Japan. It is a fully funded 6 month research opportunity for international researchers. You can stay in Japan from June 2027 to March 2028 and work on your own research project at any university or research institute. The program gives you a monthly allowance, arrival fund, round trip airfare, insurance and a study tour. About 15 fellows are chosen each year. Applications close on 30 June 2026. What is the Matsumae (MIF) Fellowship 2027?

This fellowship is offered by the Matsumae International Foundation. It helps researchers from other countries come to Japan and do research. You choose your own host professor and institute. The main goal is to build friendship and share knowledge between Japan and other countries. You work on your research project and get to know Japanese culture and academic life. It is a good chance to improve your skills and make international connections.

Eligibility Criteria

You must be a non-Japanese citizen. You need to have a PhD degree. You should be 45 years old or younger. You must have a full-time job in your home country. You need to return to your home country after the fellowship. You must have good English or Japanese skills. You need an invitation letter from a Japanese host professor or institute.
