Applications for the DAAD GSSP Scholarships 2026 are now available. The Spemann Graduate School of Biology and Medicine (SGBM) is looking for international students to fill up to four PhD positions. These positions are funded by the DAAD Graduate School Scholarship Program (GSSP) for 2026. It is a fully funded scholarship program and students from any country can apply. Eligibility Criteria

  • The DAAD GSSP scholarships are open to students worldwide.
  • Possess excellent English language skills
  • Have an outstanding academic record with a master’s degree in life sciences or equivalent by the scholarship start date
  • Have not previously completed a PhD
  • Graduated within the last six years before nomination (see exceptions in the “Important information” document)
  • Have not lived in Germany for more than 15 months before being nominated

Selection Process

The selection process consists of following steps:

  2. Interview Stage: Attend online interviews if shortlisted
  3. Nomination: Nomination for DAAD GSSP for selected candidates
  4. DAAD Application: Submit a separate application via the DAAD portal
  5. Final Selection: DAAD makes the final selection and manages scholarships
