The HKU Summer Research Scholarship Programme 2026 will open on 2 January 2026 (10 AM Hong Kong Time). This is a 10-week research program at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for students from all over the world.

You will join research work, attend activities, and explore life in Hong Kong. Students with strong results may also get a chance for a conditional place in the HKU Presidential PhD Scholarship. This PhD scholarship provides up to HK$433,300 (US$55,560) in the first year and HK$413,300 (US$52,990) in later years.

Scholarship Benefits

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Undergraduate students: In their 3rd or 4th year with CGPA 3.6 or above (or equivalent).
  • Master’s students: With First Class Honours (or equivalent) in Bachelor’s degree.
  • Strong interest in pursuing research postgraduate studies.
  • Outstanding academic performance and prior research experience.
  • Ability to work independently with maturity and responsibility.
  • High proficiency in English language.
