Eligibility Criteria For KOICA Scholarship 2025

For the academic session 2025, the KOICA Scholarship is available for international students. You can apply for the KOICA Fellowship Program 2025 now, but make sure you check if you meet the requirements for this year. Eligibility Criteria For KOICA Scholarship 2025

1) Eligible Nationality

  • Only people from certain countries can apply for this opportunity. The Korean government chooses which countries are eligible, and this can change every year.

2) Employee Status and Government Nomination

  • In order to apply for the KOICA Scholarship program, international applicants must be government officials and have their governments officially recommend them for the scholarship.

3) Health

  • To study in Korea for the full duration of the program you must be in good health both mentally and physically.
  • Applicants with disabilities are also eligible to apply for the KOICA Scholarship but must be in good mental and physical health.
  • If the applicants have a severe illness they are not eligible to apply.

4) AGE

  • (Preferably) Applicants must be under the age of 40

5) English Proficiency

  • A good command of English both speaking and writing is required.
  • To attend classes that are totally conducted in English and to be able to write academic reports and theses in English, you must be proficient in the English language.

6) Preferable

  • Working for the government during and after the program, using their special knowledge or skills to help the government.

7) Minimum Level of Education and Field experience

  • Applicants for Master’s degree program must have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum experience of 2 years.
  • Applicants for the Doctoral degree program must have a Master’s degree with a minimum experience of 3 years after graduation from KOICA Master’s degree program.

8) University Eligibility

  • In order to apply to a university, you have to follow the rules and requirements that the university has set. This means you have to submit all the documents listed in the program, like your application and any other information they need.
  • It is important to read and understand the application guidelines carefully as well as Program Information in its entirety.

Not Eligible if:

  • Candidates are NOT eligible to apply for the KOICA Scholarship if they have previously received a scholarship for a degree from the Korean government.
  • If you have received a bachelor’s degree scholarship from the Korean government then you are eligible to apply for a master’s course.
  • If you have already enrolled in a degree program with a scholarship from the Korean government, except for the KOICA program, you cannot apply for a Doctoral course.
  • If you were a KOICA scholar before and your scholarship got canceled after you started, you cannot apply again.
    • Cancellation of Scholarship means that a student who was supposed to receive a special scholarship decided to leave the program or did something wrong that caused them to lose the scholarship during the time they were supposed to have it.
  • Applicants must first finish the KOICA Master’s Degree Program and then they can join the KOICA Doctoral Degree Program.
