Nationality
- Open to candidates from any country worldwide.
Residency and Citizenship (Category I)
- Must be from an EEA country or Switzerland.
- Must have lived in an EEA country or Switzerland for at least 3 out of the last 5 years before October 1st.
Application History
- Cannot have applied twice before without success under this scheme.
New Degree Entrant
- Must be starting the degree they want funding for and have official acceptance from the school or department.
Scholarship for Master’s Applicants
- Cannot have a Council Postgraduate Scholarship now or before.
Scholarship for PhD Applicants
- Cannot have a Council Postgraduate Scholarship now or before except if it was for a research master’s.
Academic Qualifications
- Need a bachelor’s degree with top honors (first-class or upper second-class) or equivalent.
- If final degree results are pending a provisional offer may be made if results later meet standards.
- If the bachelor’s degree does not meet the required honors level a master’s degree is compulsory.
