Fully Funded Marianne Initiative Fellowship for Human Rights Defenders 2026
The Marianne Initiative Fellowship for Human Rights Defenders 2027 is a fully funded six-month program in Paris, France for active human rights defenders from around the world. You live in France from January to June 2027 and get training in leadership, advocacy, safety and international human rights law. The program also gives you a living stipend, accommodation and chance to build a global network. What is the Marianne Initiative for Human Rights Defenders?
This program started in 2021 by French President Emmanuel Macron. It helps brave people who defend human rights in their countries. You come to Paris for six months to learn new skills, rest and connect with other defenders. The French government and many NGOs run it together. After the program you join the Marianne Alumni network and keep getting support. It is a safe space for defenders who face pressure or danger at home.

Eligibility Criteria
- You must be a human rights defender working in your country or from a third country.
- You should have real experience defending civil rights, women’s rights, minority rights, children’s rights or environmental rights.
- You need to show clear work in this field.
- You must be able to stay in France for the full six months.
- You can be from any country.
- The program looks for people who will use the skills to help their communities back home.
