Applications for the ODI Fellowship Scheme 2025-2027 are now available for international applicants. In the fellowship program fellows are offered two-year contracts where they take on roles as local civil servants in countries with low and middle incomes. They serve as public sector civil servants in key governmental institutions, such as central banks, ministries, statistical offices, and regulatory authorities. The ODI Fellowship Scheme started back in 1963. Since then, it has given more than 1300 young economists and statisticians the chance to work with public sector institutions in various countries. During this time, they gain practical experience solving important problems, which not only helps them grow professionally but also creates positive changes in public policies.

Fellowship Benefits
The fellowship gives you money and support to help you live and work well during your time in the program. Here is how it works:
- Stipend Structure
- Year 1 You will get around £2700 each month after taxes. This adds up to about £32400 for the first year.
- Year 2 You will get around £2850 each month after taxes. This adds up to about £34200 for the second year as you gain more skills.
- Accommodation Support The housing help depends on where you live so it matches the cost there. This amount is checked every year to make sure it fits the area.
- Extra Help
- Money for learning like workshops or conferences if you need it.
- We help you move and give health coverage options.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must follow the eligibility requirements to be eligible for the ODI Fellowship:
Nationality and Background
- Open to people from any country. We value different backgrounds and fairness.
- Applicants with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply.
Academic Qualifications
- A finished or still-working-on master’s degree or PhD in economics statistics or a similar field.
- Best if you study things like:
- Farming or environmental economics
- Health or world development economics
- Numbers data science or stats.
- If you are still studying you must finish your degree before starting.
